A Million Different Faces

Are you using the wrong skin care products?

Walking into the skin care section of stores can be so overwhelming, right? You aren’t alone in your journey to find your perfect skincare routine! If you are having issues with your skin, you could be using the wrong types of products for your skin type. Knowing what type of skin you have isn’t always as easy as you think! Here’s an easy DIY way to find out your skin type.

You’ll find it to be quite simple to figure out what your skin type is by taking 30-45 minutes out of one of your days. I know its hard to find time, but your skin will thank you for it.

Wash your face with a simple cleanser, for example a facial soap bar. It’s important you only use a simple cleanser and water. No masks, fresheners, or moisturizers this time. Pat your face dry with a soft face cloth and relax for 30-45 minutes without touching your face. Then, take a tissue and wipe it gently over your face. Check each area individually, your cheeks, forehead, chin, nose, temples and jawline. Look at the tissue after each wipe. If the tissue had oil spots after touching all of the areas, you have oily skin. If the tissue didn’t have any blemishes on it, you have normal skin. If the tissues had small pieces missing or particles stuck to your face, you have dry skin. Lastly, if the tissue only had oil spots in the t-zone (forehead, nose, and chin), you have combination skin.

Look for products that have your skin type listed on them and try to avoid products with sulfates, this will help your skin look and feel better. Putting your best face forward is always easier when you feel confident about your skin! Keeping your skin healthy by knowing what products to use will keep you feeling your best every day, no matter the situation!
